Tip: See Customizing the Rating Scale Element to learn how to customize the Slider Rating element in the XML Editor.
1: About the Slider Rating Element
The Slider Rating element allows survey participants to move a slider to a point on a scale to answer a question. The Slider Rating element utilizes a select form and must contain multiple points. Additional sliders are optional. This element does not utilize Flash and is desktop, tablet, and smartphone (iOS5+, Android 2.3+) compatible.
2: Adding a Slider Rating Element
Note: You can set the "Show if" filter to display only elements that are compatible or optimized for the devices allowed for your project. See Project Settings Summary to learn how to verify your project settings.
To add a Slider Rating element, first click the "+ Element" button to add a new survey element. Then click "Rate, Rank, and Sort" under Question Types and select the "Slider Rating" element. Then click "Add".
Enter the question and instruction text in the areas provided. Add the answer options by clicking the "+ New Point" button. If you only want to show one slider with the question text, do not add any answer options.
Enter the text for the points on the scale, and any additional sliders (optional). Each entry will be a new row and have its own slider. The system automatically provides labels / numbers for the response options, which you can edit later in "Options".
2.1: Configuring Point Actions
All answers appear in the question box with labels (e.g., ch1, ch2, ch3, or r1, r2, r3). Labels with the "ch" prefix indicate choices (i.e., points on the slider). Click "+ New Point" to add a new point. Labels with the "r" prefix indicate rows (i.e., sliders). Click "+ New Slider" to add a new slider.
To edit answer options, click "Point Actions" and "Slider Actions". Click "Answer Piping" to show rows based on the answers of a previous question; to learn more, see Answer Piping.
3: Style Settings
To edit the display settings for a Slider Rating element, click the "..." button at the top right of the element in the staging area and select "Update Styling".
In the "Question Display Options" window, use the options on the left to specify how the question displays. When you mouse-over an option, information about the feature displays on the right. After you have selected the required styles, click "Save and Close".
