1: Overview
The allgrep command is a Decipher-only alternative to the standard Unix grep command. allgrep allows you to quickly search all survey-specific files on a server for specific text.
Note: allgrep will only search content on surveys that are
visible in the portal. To search all files, including the temp directory,
use the Unix commands find and xargs. Searching
all files may take several minutes to run.
2: Running the Command
To run allgrep , first specify the command, then the file name, then the text you are looking for:
allgrep SURVEYFILE "TEXT"
For example, if you wanted to find every survey with the label “Q1”, you would run the following:
allgrep survey.xml "Q1"
The output would be every survey directory containing a "Q1", along with the line on which that "Q1" was located.
Note: allgrep works on any survey-specific file, like survey.xml, reports.json, and nstyles.
