Text Style and Formatting Options

You can use the Rich Text Editor (RTE) within the Survey Editor to change the style and formatting options for text contained within any survey question or element. To edit question or element text, first select the text or place the cursor where you want the changes to occur. Then, select the desired option(s) in the RTE.

Tip: You can mouse-over any option in the RTE toolbar to view its description.

The following style and formatting options are available: 

Option	Description
Clear Formatting	Clears any formatting already applied to the text. E.g., You can use this to remove the formatting of content copied from a Word document or other external text editor.
Bold	Makes the text bold (e.g., bold). Tip: You can also use ctrl+b to bold the text.
Italic	Makes the text italic (e.g., italic). Tip: You can also use ctrl+i to italicize the text.
Underline	Underline the selected text (e.g., underline). Tip: You can also use ctrl+u to underline the text.
Font Sizes	Specify the font size (e.g., 8pt, 10pt, 12pt, 14pt, 18pt, 24pt, 36pt).
Text Color	Change the color of the selected text.
Image Manager	Add an image in the selected location. Learn more: Adding and Managing Images.
Insert/Edit Link	Insert a link in the selected location. Learn more: Inserting a Link in Survey Text. Tip: You can also use ctrl+k to insert a link.
Piping Tool	Pipe text from other survey elements into the selected location. Learn more: Using the Piping Tool.
Align Left	Align the text to the left side of the screen.
Align Center	Align the text to the center of the screen.
Align Right	Align the text to the right side of the screen.
Numbered List	Create a numbered list, where each line is numbered.
Bullet List	Create a bullet list, where each line is given a bullet point.
Increase Indent	Increase the indent for the selected text.
Decrease Indent	Decrease the indent for the selected text.
Special Character	Insert a special character.
Superscript	Insert superscript text.
Subscript	Insert subscript text.
Source Code	Open the source code for the question.
Undo	Undo the last change.
Redo	Redo the last change.
